Governors

Mrs Emma Gadsby is the Clerk to the Governing Body and can be contacted through the school. Full Governors’ meetings are held at least twice a term and the agenda for the latest meeting can be found in the Governors section of the school website. Minutes of meetings can be obtained from the Clerk to the Governing Body.

A few words from Catherine Veitch, Chair of the Governing Body

It is good to have the opportunity to tell you something about the work of the School’s governors. The composition of governing bodies is determined by law and in a School such as ours strongly reflects its foundation as a Church School. The local community is also served by the fact that many of our governors live within the communities served by the School. Two of our governors are elected by parents and some of our foundation governors also have children at the School. Our governing body is therefore free from political rivalries and able to work together to serve the best interests of our School and its children.

The Governing Body has three main functions:

• To ensure clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction of our School
• To hold executive leaders to account for the educational performance of our School and pupils
• To oversee its financial performance making sure our money is well spent

To sum it up the governors’ are ultimately accountable for everything in the running of the School, although, of course, the responsibility for the day to day running rests with the Headteacher and staff and some areas such as building maintenance rest with our Local Authority. As a Voluntary Aided Church of England School we have advantages both because of the Christian Foundation of the school and also in funding and assistance from the Diocesan Education Committee. We aim to work together as governors, staff, the Local Authority, Diocesan Education Committee, parents and the local community to achieve the very best for our School and its pupils.
