Wednesday 15th April 2020:

Good Morning everyone. We hope that you have all had a Happy Easter and that you are enjoying this lovely sunny weather (at a safe distance and following all guidelines!)

The wonderful staff at Riseley are keeping the school open for Keyworkers and have been doing a marvellous job planning, organising and running activities to keep children busy. They have also been updating Class Dojo and trying to keep in touch as much as possible with children and families to keep our connection going. (If you are not yet on Dojo - PLEASE join up - It is great and we will be using it more and more to communicate and improve the information coming home to you)

We also have prepared new home learning packs for you all. (Nursery to Year 6). There will be a selection of worksheets, activities and tasks to complete. There will also be links to online resources, information which you can look at from home and excellent sites such as 'White Rose Hub' which has great maths videos and activities to try.

We hope you will enjoy the educational activities provided in the packs but we also hope you will continue to do many more things; baking, cooking, art, crafts, lego, board games etc! All of which are great fun and really help to keep a family together and coping at this strange time.

Please follow the instructions below for how to collect your new pack. It is designed to keep you going for a few weeks. If we are to remain closed for a long time, we will put a third pack together in the future.

Thank you for all your support and kindness and please stay safe. We miss you all and hope to see you soon!

Mrs Morrall

Interim Headteacher

UPDATED INFORMATION: Friday 27th March 2020

Good morning!  Hoping you are all safe and well.

We need to reiterate that although school is open to the children of key workers, it must be considered as your 'last resort'. You should keep your children at home wherever possible, only using school during your working hours. If a parent is working from home, your children should also be at home.

As previously stated, you will all understand that numbers of children in school need to be as low as possible, to protect both the children, the staff, as well as yourselves.

Furthermore, Nursery provision has very specific staffing ratios which we cannot provide; therefore Nursery children cannot attend.

We would ask that those parents who are requiring their children to come to school ring or email the School Office as soon as they know sessions needed as this allows us to make staffing arrangements accordingly. (01234 708218 or office@riseley.bedssch.co.uk ).

Finally, any children who do attend can now wear play-clothes instead of school uniform.  A pair of wellies might come in handy too!

Thanking you in anticipation of your continued support and understanding in these challenging times.

Stay safe!

UPDATED INFORMATION: Sunday 22nd March 2020

Gavin Williamson, Education Secretary has clearly stated that:

"You should only send your child to school on Monday if you have to, because your work is critical to our COVID-19 response.  If you are able to keep your child at home, you should.'

We are asking that you only send your child to school if you are a critical worker and you have NO other options available for childcare. We need to keep the numbers of children in school as low as possible to prevent the spread of the virus and to protect children and staff.

PLEASE NOTE THIS CHANGE:

Previously we said that from Tuesday 24th children would need to be at Ursula Taylor. We are pleased to say that we have managed to find a way to keep Riseley open using a rota system and using a skeleton staff. Children will now NOT need to go to Ursula Taylor.

I am sorry if this change makes things difficult for families who may have made arrangements since late last week. We feel keeping our children at Riseley is a better option and thanks to the professionalism and support of the senior staff we have been able to achieve this. Thank you for your flexibility.

Mrs King, Ms Guest, Mrs Brown and I will share the collective responsibility for the school during this time. I will be at Riseley whenever possible and also contactable by the team 24/7 in case of concern or if support is needed.

Lunches will continue in the usual way.

Please send children to school in their uniforms, with a PE kit and coats etc as usual.

Thank you for your support and patience at this challenging and confusing time.

If you have any questions, please contact the school office and we will do our best to support you.

Mrs Morrall. (22.3.2020)
